My Story

This is the journey that led me here.

Everything on Kea Today has come from a life of experiences, questions, mistakes, discoveries and searching for meaning. My name is Rotchana Dixon.

After starting to write this in Thailand and my I Pad falling over…. losing all, then realizing I may have to start all over again…. So, I rewrite from scratch…. with peace in my heart.

I do not blame anyone, including my twin, as we all have our issues to deal with, and even though we may know a lot about another person, we don’t have their heart, nor their personality, nor their life. Everyone does their best using the knowledge and experience that they have. I pray that your knowledge and your experience will give you the strength to overcome. As for me, I am not perfect and none of what I have written here is dramatized or embellished. Everything happened just as I have described it. I pray that you will be blessed.

“To give up is never to try at all”
“When you hit a brick wall you are nearly there.... the hardest climb is the last mountain”

This is where my story begins

The time is 09.00pm and it is 24th March 1969. There was a baby boy born in Leeston Hospital, Central Canterbury……he will spend the next five years teetering on the edge of life, touching death with a malformed lung, and forced to take on board a lot of medicine which had a negative impact on his teeth.

My childhood took a turn when I was about seven years old. You see, my father came down with lymphoma. He suffered from this disease for the next fifteen years. The only time he vocally told me he loved me was on his death bed, at 58 years of age. That time was amazing, a healing, a very precious gift, as he said “I tried my best”. I said to him “I know dad, I love you…. I really do love you”. Even today I can remember that moment…. like gold in a jar…. so precious.

There was just one teacher I remember at school. That teacher’s name was Mrs. Palmer. She taught differently seeing the students’ strengths and working with that. I have never forgotten her.

The rest of the road is mapped. The full telling stays with me until each stretch is ready to stand on its own. What happened → what changed → what I learned → what came next.

  1. A farm childhood, and a father who tried his best
  2. School, and the one teacher who saw me
  3. Sixteen, the city, and a doorway in 1991
  4. Children, and the times life nearly took me
  5. Becoming who I am
  6. Beauty school, 2010
  7. September 2010, then 22 February 2011
  8. Phuket, April 2011
  9. Beauty, business, and fourteen years of work
  10. Thailand as home
  11. A connection that changed everything
  12. Finding myself — and Energy Today

That last step is this place. The videos, the reading, the letter, the app. One product. A real person behind it. My name is Rotchana Dixon.
